Well that's a lot 'o mutations crammed into those little birds! :) I am just beginning work in earnest with Pearls here - mine are very light (or more correct to say heavily pearled?). With the other mutations, I think it's fine to have a lot of them lurking, but not so much with Pearl. I would wonder about whether Pearl might affect the color of the fawns. Have you (or anyone) had experience with this? Maybe we're about to get some experience?

They are lovely babies - I am particularly fond of the fawn greys. Congratulations and please keep the photos coming!

Hi Martie,

If they're very light it's possible they may not be on a Chocolate background? I think the desirable thing is to breed Pearls against chocolate because you get the best "Pearl" coloration that way.

You can still produce Fawn Pearls and Grey Pearls (which I think are pretty but which end up kind of just looking a bit like a Fawn Grey) but I don't think any of these babies are because the coloring is so even on them.

Any females should by default be carriers so I guess if any of them are female then they will also be Pearl - so either these are all males or perhaps the Fawn Grey is also Pearl and the coloration will just be really subdued due to the light background.

They are on a Chocolate background - just VERY pearled like the "Very Light" one at the lower left of this photo. (Photo from the National Bengalese Finch Society website: http://www.nbfa.co.uk/Page58.html

I actually like the color - but it's not correct from a standard point of view.

It will be very interesting to see your clutch grow up and get through the adult molt. Thank you so much for sharing all of this - it helps a lot.

Hi I am also trying to breed the pearls Societies So just wanted to share, here is a picture of the pair and current chicks, but i don't see a pearl chick in the clutch, they look brown without the markings, i think all the females should be pearl as per the genetics, what do you guys think??

I have two chicks from the previous clutch one is singing the other is not, but the female also doesn't look like pearl, i will post a picture of them later,

Any input will be appreciated
