What zebra finches do I have and what will they breed??

Post by Finchzilla » Wed Sep 19, 2012 7:39 pm

Hello, can anyone please help me with what finches I have?? I think I have a normal grey, his belly is bright white, has black bar and zebra stripping, grey head with orange cheek patches black tear drops with a small white mark and a tiny black mark and dark orange beak, flanks are orange with white dots, wings and back are dark grey almost charcoal?? Tail is black with white squares that match on both sides! The female is fawn I think with black tear drop, brown tail with light brown or fawn or cream squares that don't match on both sides!! Can anyone tell what genetics trait or mutations these birds carry?? They have laid a clutch of 5, if the breed what will the produce??? Cheers
Andrew

Can you post a picture....from your description the male is normal and the female fawn

you will get half normal gray females (NG) and half normal gray males that are split to fawn (NG/Fawn)

If you can post a picture we can look at them and tell if perhaps the have a physical trait to ID a split to a recessive gene. Going based on you written description we can only guess. A picture of front and back would be more helpful.
