Do you know how many more eggs they have. Its been my experience with mine any way they would stop sitting on the nest if kept looking in ther nest, mine really wanted to be left alone.
I think when they first hatch they absorb the egg sack the first day and then the parents start feeding. Have you looked at the link to the left finch info.it well realy help with any question that you might have.
good luck! BCAMP :)

Thank you for your reply. I think I probably looked at them too much...but it was just a glorious curiosity!! The baby dies...actually they dcided not to be with it. She probably laid 20+ eggs in the past 2 months...and only one was fertile!!
I have cleaned out the cage and removed the breeding box...I think we will wait until next year!

When my goulds start laying I completly ignore them, I try to get them to eat a lot of eggfood . & live meal worms which will give them a lot of protien which they need to raise babys
Like you when they first started laying eggs I looked every day to see how many eggs ,then they would just stop going into the nest after I started leaving them alone they had babys. Good luck with yours
