Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
galvanized stell mesh or plastic black mesh...feed store or Home Depot or Lowe's...Lowe's here had the best price. If you use galvanized steel mesh, soak it in vinegar water, scrub and rinse before using.

John, thanks I will look!
Cindy, home depot has them but to me they seem too small for such a price... I will check out lowes, thank you! And thanks for the vinegar tip also

We had a feed store in Ft Myers that stocked massive rolls of wire and mesh...you can go and ask for a certain yardage and they cut it for you. I miss that store!!! They had great aviary supplies as well.

Just make sure the wire spacing is small enough that finches can't get they're heads or anything stuck. I think I used 1/2 inch bar spacing.

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
Dante, I did a LOT of searching before I bought mine, and I came to the same conclusion. I ended up buying online. I found the black PVC coated mesh with 1/2" spacing, for what I considered a reasonable price, with reasonable shipping. The place I got it sells it in 24" and 36" widths, in 25' lengthsDanteD716 wrote: home depot has them but to me they seem too small for such a price...

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
Thanks Nelissa! The price seems fair, but I would probaly be better of at a store than paying for the cloth and shipping. I think I am going to do the back wall wood or pegboard, and the front wall plexi-glass, so I will probaly be better of with the small amount from home depot

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
Hi everyone,
I have found many links to flight cages and flight building supplies, but most are in the US and seems they dont ship to Canada. Do any of our Canadian subscribers happen to have live links to supplies for mesh or pvc coated cage type wire grids or flight cages of HQ quality in Canada? I'm looking for something at least 60 inches in length as far as a flight cage goes.

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
I've been trying to find something for a long time. I've come up with nothing but the regular department stores like home depot, westrum lumber etc.tinysparrow wrote:hi ed, great question! as a fellow canadian, i would also be interested in learning about where to get some good supplies! shipping costs from the states are such a painEdster wrote: Hi everyone,

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
I think they sell HQ cages in BC. Theres a online store I think I saw a while ago.
I want a flight cage!
Dante- when I built the wooden flight last year, I got the black wire mesh from Home Depot. Wasnt too expensive for the roll. I only needed one.
I also got my wood and all materials from there as well.
I know they sell plexiglass too!
I think if I ever made one again in the future, I would definately have a plexiglass front, and mesh sides.
I found the mesh took away from the birds.

Re: Where To Buy Mesh?
Dante, when I was building my flight, I looked everywhere I could locally, even some independent garden stores. I could not find black coated wire anywhere locally. Home depot and lowe's here only sell galvanized and green, and the largest roll I found was 15'. It was definitely NOT economical for the amount I needed.PrettyBird wrote: Dante- when I built the wooden flight last year, I got the black wire mesh from Home Depot. I ended up ordering online...
