Re: Building A New Cage
Just an update: today I cut the two pieces of plexi glass for the sides.. I also glued one sheet of glass onto one frame, and on the smaller door frame. I am makes the entire top on hinges so it can open, nut will put a smaller door on it so I only open the entire op when need be. The top will be mesh, but will have the glass door.
The sides and front will also be plexi glass.
It will be 24x60x23

Re: Building A New Cage
Thanks Debbie! Honestly I would have been finished but we started out class project, we are building a 2ftx3ft house, today we did the base so I hurried and knocked it out in 20 flat and started cutting the plexi glass!!! And btw it is so hard to rip of the protectvie sticky paper, it took me and my friends more time to take it off than it did to glue!

Re: Building A New Cage
Maybe you could attach natural branches to the back wall, and allow them to sway, like they would outdoors on a tree. If you could secure them strongly enough at their thicker end.
Are the sides real glass, or plexi glass? Because maybe you could drill a few strategically located holes in the plexiglass to poke the ends of perches through for support.

Finnie, it is plexiglass. I decided to do the back wall wooden, so I can attatch a nestbox in each back corner, and put a big branch in the middle. I could also attach them in the corners by the wooden frame.

Re: Building A New Cage
If you have a wire top you could hang the branches down from there maybe.

Re: Building A New Cage
Well my frame was too weak and when we were testing it it broke. On a g ood note, I do have a the back and front cut, the back will be wood, the front acrylic/plexi glass, both sides are also acrylic/plexi glass (they are already glued onto their frames and are sturdy.) From the botton will be a 2 inch gap with a door on hinges to replace the gap for easy cleaning. The top of the cage will be on hinges for easy access, but a smaller acrylic/plexiglass door will be on the so I do not need to open the entire cage. Tommorow I will build a stonger frame with thicker wood, and glue on the front piece of plexi glass and nail on the back wall.
