Maybe it could be that your bird is sensitive to the dyes of the pellets. I just bought a pair of gouldians from a breeder that knew alot about their proper nutrition and she said that a natural diet is best. That if you want to feed a pellet that it was best to feed one that had no artificial dyes or flavoring and feed it along with seeds and vegetables. I bought a product called RowdyBush. It is all natural. I also feed a seed blend and fresh vegetables. I was told that a straight pelleted diet could cause inestinal blockage and constipation because there is no roughage. They also will drink more water when on a pelleted diet which can then cause diarrea. I hope that it is just a dietary problem and that your bird is not ill.

I have looked at the Gouldian poopology online and searched sites to try and figure out what is wrong. Any ideas will be helpful. Could it be some sort of worms?

I will take this pair of birds off of the colored pelleted food and see what their dropping look like then, and that may help me to better use the finch poopology to figure out what is wrong. They love the colored pellets, but I will see if they do better back on a mainly seed diet. Thanks for all the ideas so far.

I agree. Take them off and see how shes doing after that. If it continues then it is something else going on

I bought seed mix yesterday and am switching them back over to it, right now offering both yet. They dived right into the seed again and I was surprised how quickly their droppings firmed up and changed color. Within a couple of hours.

Congratulations on finding the solution! I dont know anyone that feeds Goulds pellets with most sticking to the natural diet.
Hope everything goes well from now on.
