nelloyello11 Nellisa: To replace the broken hooks, I use Command 3M hooks. You get 6 small hooks & strips for $3.99 or less. These small hooks work perfectly.

Re: Seed Hoppers Save Money!
I have very MESSY finches and a canary who does the same thing. Lets flick the seed all over the ground just so I can get the best most flavoursome seed!, or WHOOPIE! this is a new game that drives my owner crazy with the vaccum cleaner! I usually vaccum twice per day. And that's only with three birds. I've tried seed containers with covers - they won't use them. I've tried ones on the ground - they poo in them, or in the case of previous female birds, they nest in them! There's no happy medium, but clean, clean, clean!!! LOL I love my birds and wouldn't trade them for the world

Re: Seed Hoppers Save Money!
I am thinking of going to these seed hoppers to reduce mess and wasted seed. Currently I am using the mason jars that screw into plastic base and when turned upside down dispense the seed regularly. They provide seed for a long time. They do make a mess though so thought I might try these. If you have a pair of finches in a cage, how long on average would you say that one seed hopperful lasts? I will likely use two per cage to guard against clogging (I have had the same issue with my mason jar feeders) if I go away.
thanks,
lori

Re: Seed Hoppers Save Money!
lori its the same reason why i want to try them, my owls don't waste a lot of seeds but my Cuban melodious do! some times half of there food in just one day. but, i only went out of town one time sense i have this birds and i learn in this forum to leave as much food and water as you can and plenty of spray millet, also i had one friend come by after three days to check on things and another friend 4 days after that. (i think ?
its been a while!

Re: Seed Hoppers Save Money!
Does it look like this seed hopper has the little drawer underneath like the others?

Its not clear to me if it does and this site seems to be the only place that sells this type of feeder. I am hoping it has the little drawer underneath as I like the larger size...I can use it in my flights where there are lots of birds.
thanks,
Lori

So this would be the answer to my juvenile cage where they sling feed 3' away from the cage?
10 Owl Finches, 15 Pied Societies, 8 Color Bred Canaries and a blind Gouldian, Veronica

Re: Seed Hoppers Save Money!
That would hold a lot more seed than the usual seed hopper, so would work for aviaries or flights, except that it only seems to have hooks on the front, so would be for external use only. It looks like it has a hull drawer, but I would also contact the company to ask.

Laraine from LadyGouldian.com lives about 6 miles from me. She is well known in the area for her Gouldians and a lot of people turn to her with questions about Lady Goudians, etc. I often see her at the ATL bird shows. I ordered some nest boxes and nesting material from her. I received them in days and she included some millet and free samples as well. I'd recommend her.
