After reading the description of it, I'd think yes. As long as it only sucks in air and blows out air and doesn't add any perfumes or what have you into the blown out air, I guess it should be fine.

Great Ursula! Thank You for your input! I'll let you know how it works. This one doesn't use any "ozone" technology either, which is rumored to be usafe for birds. ;)

I read the description also, and I wonder about it. It kills germs in the air, but doesn't say anything about filtering out dust particles, etc. I guess for the money, I would check into it further.

The UV device is only to kill germs.
You need a HEPA filter to remove "stuff" from the air.

If the goal is to kill the bugs in the air, then UV will do it.

If the goal is to take the dust out of the air then you need a HEPA or similar filter.

Two different goals require 2 different filters.

Most of us are just concerned with dust, so HEPA would be the choice. But if you want to take it one step further, then in addition to a HEPA filter, a UV purifier would be a logical next step.

LOL, germs! If you read the reviews on the Amazon website, some people claim that this gadget kills germs that make people get sick with the cold, flu, etc.

If it makes the air fresher and removes odors without spraying something around, that would already be worth the money for me. (I do have a hepa filter for dust in the living room. Eliminates some of it, but not completely...)

If this product is available at lowe's or home depot that's where I would buy it from, if you are not satisfied with the product simply return it, no questions asked. I am going to try 1 out

Liz, it is rather small if it is a plug in to handle cleaning the air for say a bedroom size room, I would be afraid of what it gives off, it looks like a gimmick.

When buying an air purifier do not get one that is marked "ionic" they are not safe for birds. Some have an ionic feature that can be shut off, I still do not trust that. Target has a nice one that I purchased for under $100 that does a small bedroom quiet nicely. Look for "true HEPA" http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=true ... _true+hepa
