Branch ready and installed
So this is the branch I readied for my flight cage. Only my zebras have used it so far, but its only been in the cage for 1 hour. Hopefully this will allow my societies better and less messy access to the millet spray. I have 2 sprays near the bottom of the cage in holders, but my societies do not venture down there. Thanks for all of the great tips!!! Ginene

Looks great! I use my own branches all the time, but then I live in the woods so it seems a crime to pay for branches, to me.
I use binder clips to hold millet in the cage--clip it to side bars or hanging down from the top, just put it near perches to help them get started.
Also works for sprigs of broccoli and all kinds of other things.
When they will fit in the oven, I give my branches a slow bake at 200-250° for an hour, then let them just cool down inside the oven. Gives any moisture inside time to slowly work its way out. Find these branches are harder and stronger than unbaked branches. Then I use thin screws and washers much like purchased branches, and/or wire them to the cage where they contact the sides.
Baking birch smells SOOOO good.

Thanks Nerien...I appreciate the tips. I think the natural branches are beautiful. Want my little guys to be as close to nature as possible.
