Do you cook it first, or give it to them raw?30 Seconds to Bob wrote:I give it right on the cob, but I slice the cob into 5 or 6 little "wheels" and lay one on it's side on the bottom of the cage. That way it doesn't roll around when they try to eat it and the partially cut kernels on the ends seem to initially draw their attention to it better. Bob

I've always given it raw. Never tried it cooked. Just wash it good and give it raw. The canaries and javas both devour it - especially when they are feeding young. Bob

Tried cucumber today with both the firetails and the canaries. They loved it (especially the firetails). They both ate the middles out!

When I feed corn on the cob I have this special little dish I use where it doesn't roll. When they eat one side, I turn it over.

That is definitely a new one for me! I used to offer various fruits to my finches, but none of them seemed interested, so I quit offering it. I'll be off to the store to get some oranges for my Berries today! Thanks for the tip, Donna!dfcauley wrote: Off subject.... Sally I have been surprised at how they are eating those oranges. I think it is the new ones also! Get some and give it a try! They are at that dish every time I look out there.Sally wrote:That is definitely a new one for me! My finches adore spinach but they tend to eat anything I put in their cage. Broccoli, apples, parsley, celery, well you get the idea. lol They are society finches and are wonderful.

Re: What are your birds favorite greens?
I feed a lot of what has been mentioned , sometimes in egg food, sometimes separately, but mine go bonkers over cilantro and parsley! I use kitchen shears and cut it stems and all - all but the goulds are heading for the dish before I get the door closed. and at $.48 a bunch......

Re: What are your birds favorite greens?
nelloyello11 just curious, how do you give them the Kale? do you chop it up or just put in in hole, and are you feeding it to finches? (some people have mentioned parrots in this thread)
Thanks
Thanks

Re: What are your birds favorite greens?
Nanajennie I just use a treat clip and clip a leaf to a perch or to the bars near a perch and my finches tear pieces off to eat and play with.
