Adopted a Conure

Post by PrettyBird » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:39 am

We adopted a conure last night.

His name is Coco. He is a 7 mo old Crimson Green Cheek Conure.
Hes very cuddly. The only issue he has is nipping (thats the reason they rehomed them)
He is still pretty young, so I am hopeful I can work with him, and try and curb that.

He is in love with my husband and will go and snuggled up against his neck, and let him pet him, which is funny because in his last home he was very bonded to the female, and would nip the male owner. Go figure.

He is beautiful. Green cheek conures are such a pretty species of hookbill. Hopefully he'll settle down and become your best and most loyal friend. Best of luck.

Love green cheeks! We have a girl who we've had for more than a year and she's a complete sweetie, hope you can correct the nippiness quickly!

Thanks everyone.

Simon- oh i know...hes already bit me a few times and drew blood. Its crazy how attached to my husband he is. Hes never bit him or anything. When he comes home from work Coco will jump down and run towards him!

I was told he was a male, but when I asked if he was DNA'd they told me that no, they just took the breeders word for it.
So I will be getting him DNA'd to find out what "he" is.

Very nice and good luck with him! I'm also a fan of green cheeks - babysat one for a couple of weeks, once. They are generally very sweet. From my experience with other conures that I've owned, it generally the females that are more nippy. Are you sure that he is a he? *edit* just read your last post about not being sexed. Bob

Dee, so happy he found a great home with you!! Nipping can be worked on, perhaps when he/she settles in and learns to trust you the nipping will stop.
