vent problem

Post by awranic » Mon Dec 11, 2006 12:35 am

I have a female zebra finch who is having problems. The area of her vent looks I don't know distinded. It is longer than normal and no feathers around her. She had problems before with an infection and just started growing other feathers back but now this has developed. There also seems to be a large amount of oil around this area also. Like she has secreted too much from her gland. I put anitibiotics I had from her last infection but don't know otherwise what could be the problem.

Do you mean the vent is protruding to where a pink bulge is visible? If so, it could be that she has strained too hard laying an egg. Can you post a photo?
