Im new to this.I have two gouldians,had them for a little over a month.They laid six eggs.Five eggs hatched,and they have been feeding themI went out for a couple of hours and came home to find they threw three chicks out of nest,they were dead.So now i have two chicks.They hatched this past saturday.Could they have broken the egg that didnt hatch,i cant see it in nest box,not really a box a bamboo nest box.tommy.

I am excited about the hatching of your babies and I feel bad about your losses...I hope the rest of your group do well.

I am waiting for a hatching...no idea how long I have to wait.

Sometime the eggs do get broken, are they still feading the other two?

the birds seem to know when an egg is no good (infertile) and a lot of times when we think it has disappeared it has, into their bellies. they dont waste what is a great source of protein. when I first started with finches and this happened I worried that the finches would become the same as some chickens and always eat their eggs, but that has not happened yet and I pray never does
