I'm not sure exactly what goldbreasts prefer (i'm pretty sure it's wicker from all the pictures i've seen)....but wicker baskets are horrible. I've had finches get their toes caught inbetween the weave and the poor guys were dangling onto dear life. Thankfuly i've only had a few birds lose a toenail
. Hopefully someone with Goldbreasts is able to give you a more definitive answer.

I don't have any finches right now but I used to, I'll try to provide my knowledge around the forum

Re: BOX OR WICKER
I tried a nest that looks like the wicker ones, but had lots of grassy stuff woven it - the waxbills wouldn't go near it. So I put a wicker one in (same as what was in the cage in the pet store) and they hopped in right away. Currently sitting on eggs, but I think they may not be any good. There were 3 eggs, but now only two.B CAMP wrote:Can anyone tell me what kind of nest that there goldbreasted prefer box or wicker, thanks
No peeking allowed, so am waiting until enough time has passed to be sure they're no good. Then I'll give them a break. I may put a larger wicker nest in, but fill some of it with nesting material for them (might be easier to sneak a peak through the opening in the back top.

I admit that I am a peeker and and would probably have a hard time at Paul's sweet van UNLESS my hubby was with me. Then I would resist because I hate to eat sweets in front of him. (diabetic)mickp wrote:so many people just cant resist peeking, would love to see everyone at Pauls sweet van![]()
I think gourds would make great nest. I will have to see if I can find some and make nest from them. Maybe that would help me with my peeking.
