Egg Food?

Post by Pierce130 » Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:59 am

Hopefully, my finches are soon to be parents...now my question is...What would you recommend for a proper diet for the parents. Right now I am feeding just regular finch food from the pet store.

Well, you can purchase commercial egg food's, they are usually dry.

You can hard boil eggs and chop it up finely for the birds as well.

You can combine commercial preparations with hard boiled egg (usually baby bird hand feeding formula powder).

Hope that helps!

Haven't thought about mixing the chopped egg with hand feeding formula. I just use a small grater and they eat the albumin like worms!

I mix fresh egg with a dried formula 50/50 to get the right consistency.Plus the dried eggfood has extra vitamins added.

dont forget to make some fresh greens available as well, some examples being cucumber, broccoli, corn, herbs, milk thistle.
also livefood is especially important during breeding season, such as mealworms or termites.
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.
