new little male practicing his singing. SO CUTE!

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

new little male practicing his singing. SO CUTE!

Post by Shelleypg1919 » Sat Jul 06, 2013 8:58 pm

I bought one of those training albums on itunes that featured the Spanish Timbrado. It plays for about an hour. My little guy has started singing for the first time. His song is pretty quiet. He is very young though so I imagine he is practicing. When the cd stops, he stops.

Any advice?

Never heard of CDs with canaries singing. Is the purpose to train the canary sing a certain Way?

Give him time and keep playing the cd. There are also lots of clips you can find on youtube of timbrados singing. Try playing some of these for him as well. Do you know if he's supposed to be a timbrado classico or floreado? In either case, if he's a timbrado he WILL sing - with or without the cd. It's in his genes. Trust me. Bob

I played a lot of YouTube videos for my hen during her molt because she seemed very interested in canary noises. Now she won't stop chirping and singing. :D I'm sure yours will get the hang of it very soon, and it will be worth the wait. =D>

Growing up my mother raised canaries (finches to) we would set a time every day, we read and stayed quiet while she played training records for her canaries...it was so thrilling to hear them trying a song then finally singing along with the recording.

He is so cute. He has very softly been practicing his song. I like to say that I am training my canary when people ask what I am doing. Actually, of course, I am sitting around reading a book while the cd plays!

I have so much singing going on in my house! I find that my adult male canaries teach and encourage the chicks to sing....at a very young age! I have 7 week old chicks singing really well. It is a great help in sexing them....haha
