Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

I found my male waterslager in the seed cup this morning looking awful his tail was a mess. He was fine yesterday. Caught his son picking at his tail.....None of the other males are showing signs of problems.
Took him out of flight put him in a small cage with heat he just sits there with his head down with his beak touching the cage floor. Thre is water and egg and seed food on floor. I treated him with Scatt but I am thinking maybe he got his neck caught somewhere. He can fly and pull his head up but rather lets it hang down.

Is he still eating? Hope it wasn't an adverse reaction to the Scatt (wich isn't completely unheard of). I'd at least try to get some electrolytes and B12 in him as well as what you're doing with the heat and the hospital cage. Good luck with him. Bob

Bob he was trying to eat but he was like this before the scatt. His chest is very thin like he hasn't eaten. There is lots of food in the flight....

That is very sad...looks like some sort of an injury.

How's he doing now? *fingers crossed*

I'd probably tube feed him, to make sure he gets nutrition. As Bob said, electrolytes, mashed pellets or handfeeding formula and crop feed him temporarily. Then, if he doesn't perk up in a day, if you can take him to an avian vet to check his neck and the rest of his body for injury. He may just be sore, but he doesn't look very well in the photo. I hope he makes it and recovers soon.
