Introducing Starbuck, my isabel shaft-tail!

Post by sarehptar » Sat Aug 31, 2013 5:56 pm

Following some advice from Cindy on another thread, I decided to find a replacement for my lost shaft-tail hen ( ) by finding a breeder online who would ship. I contacted Su Yin at Happy Bird Place and was able to get an absolutely lovely isabel male.

So, introducing Starbuck! (Also Starbird, Starby, etc.) He is incredibly docile and loves to hop over to the side of the quarantine cage and stare right back when I come into the room. I don't think it would be too hard to hand tame him, since he's already okay with being touched a little bit. <3

I wish I had an outdoor cage so I could get some natural light instead of this horrible indoor yellow light...

Anyway, Starbuck is currently waiting in quarantine for a bit before I try and introduce him to my other male, Mr. Chicken, to be companions. Since it's kind of imperative that some combination of these four works out together, I'm sure to be back in a couple weeks asking for advice on how to introduce new finches to each other!

Ahhhh, he's such a cutie. :D
