I am back home and still smiling from the day. The weather today is close to perfect - 70 degrees - lots of sunshine and a gentle breeze. The road to Binghamton offered view after magnificent view of the Finger Lakes hillsides covered with autumn colors of red and gold.

Meeting Ginene and her beautiful family was the best part, though. Big Joe is amazing - and Lil Joe is adorable and so sweet. I love his face in this photo! We had a great lunch - I indulged with my favorite-but-rarely-enjoyed biscuits and sausage gravy, grits, eggs and bacon. OMG...

I so wish we all lived closer. It was wonderful to sit and just blab away with Ginene about our birds and all kinds of things. We could have gone on all day. :)

Can't imagine a better home for Penny and Leonard!

Thank you for a lovely day!

They were SOOOOO good! We were at the Cracker Barrel - Bob Evans has some good stuff, too. Of course, those of you in the south who get the real authentic good stuff are probably turning up your noses - but it's the best we've got up here in the northeast and not half bad. :)

OMG - I bet they're delicious! I have carefully avoided trying to make any of this at home. I don't have the self control to limit how often I would have it! :)

well there is a limit... time... cause if you rush it, the gravy will end up being hot paste for your kids next paper mache project lol...

Update!
Penny & Leonard (How do you spell that name anyway???) are all settled in to their new home :) . I want to take their picture, but they are very nervous and I don't want to stress them out. So, I'll try and get one in a few days :) . They are in my avatar! I FINALLY figured out how to shrink their picture...which Martie took, btw =D> .

No...just teenie tiny peeps. Lenny was singing in the car a little on the way home, but I think Penny must have given him "the look" because he hasn't since. Martie said it will take a few days for them to settle in and get use to their new diggs. I feel bad because they are in a Petco cage for quarantine, and it seems so tiny for them. They're permanent home (if all goes as planned) is in the monster double flight.

Ginene How long do you quarantine them for. Don't feel bad about that cage size, that is a great cage for a young pair. I have my Orange Cheeks in one and the Black Cheeks in the other. They have plenty of room to fly around.

Is Penny male? I can't remember.

I use to quarantine for 30 days...but since I'm bringing in all new birds, my "plan" is to quarantine for 90 days.
The singers are a M/F pair. The M/M pairs will be owls, stars and BCCB's :) . I cant wait for the Texas finches to arrive!!! I will quarantine them by breeder, even though they are all being shipped in the same crate together.
