Yes.

I just called and he does not have any blue billed. :(
So I am in no hurry to go today now. He says he has many african waxbills, so I will check them out next Friday instead.

Birds Express has them for $55 each, but they require a minimum order of $250. If you could find some forum members in your area who are interested in some of the birds they are offering, you could come up with $250 worth and then share the shipping costs. And Birds Express will ship United, which is much cheaper than the other airlines, you just have to ask.

I received some Strawberries today. They are in their quarantine cage now. These birds are a little rough, some of them a little thin, but I guess it is to be expected with the double quarantine they went through. It's a miracle that some of them made it. The males are either just coming in to nuptial plumage or just going out. At least one of the males was singing on the way home, about half a dozen different times. Sorry for the bars in the photo, but I couldn't get any closer, they are too nervous.

In contrast, here is a pair of domestics from 2012. The cock came from a friend, the hen is from my own breeding. The male is in full nuptial plumage, and you can see the difference in condition between these two and the ones that have just been imported.

Well, of course I posted a photo of the best-looking pair I have! My other males don't have nearly the color of this one. This hen is in near perfect condition too. Little stinkers, they are at their peak, yet nothing going on in the cage. They spend hours sitting on those seed cups, either separately or cuddled up togehter on one, but no action so far.

Hey Brian, Adventures in Birds, Inc has Blue Billed Fire Finches, for $75 each. They are located in Texas. I don't know anything about them, I just happened to see this on Finchaholics (FB).

Thanks Ginene

I was really hoping to be able to see them in person first, as the guy here distributes a lot of the birds to a lot of stores online. It's a little frustrating to have him be 30 minutes away and he already shipped them out to Texas just for me to have them shipped back to Maryland. Haha. I use to drive up to Stewarts bird farm (3 hour one way) to get "completely unrelated" birds from them, only to realize they get some of their birds from him anyways. It'* or miss.

One of our members got a text yesterday saying Adventures in Birds has Strawberries. This store is in Houston, TX area. I wish I could go to that store while in Houston for their bird show, but I'm not driving, and we have to leave immediately after the show enes anyway.

Have you purchased from this store before? This is the first time I am hearing about them?

I have not, I've never even been in this store. My friend who got the text didn't even know the store, they must have gotten her number from some other list. I said I thought it was in Houston, and then we confirmed that by their phone number, the area code is from the area surrounding Houston. The physical address for the store is in Houston, though.

Yes, I just went to their website, and they are selling Strawberries for $139 each, about the same price as Bird Product and very reasonable for a pet store.

Those of you who live near a bird-related mom & pop type pet store should check for any finch arrivals. When I picked up my shipment last Friday, they had another shipment from the same supplier that had been sent to Dallas by mistake, it was destined for a commercial address in Denver. Of course, a commercial address can also be a hobbyist using their aviary name.
