OK debbie276

She already has 4 so I have to wonder how many she is going to have !! :?:

Are Zebras generally like others and maybe their first clutch doesn't work out? I know I wont have to wait long for the next lot that's for sure =D>

Hey.

The Zebs laid 6 eggs and have done a great job sitting with no fuss.

This morning hubby YELLS out "MANDS THE ZEBRAS ARE EATING THE EGGS" so I come running from the bird room in a panic and sure enough there he is with half an egg shell in his mouth BUT there in the nest was a baby as well - I was super excited. My dates must have been wrong as I thought it wasn't going to be for another 3 days. A very nice surprise indeed.

Do they generally eat the shell after the baby has hatched? :?:

They have done a great job sitting today, I can't get a look in to see if they have hatched anymore of them, imagine if they hatch the whole 6 of them, that is going to be one hell of a noisy cage. But, it would be awesome. =D>

As soon as they all hatch I will get a pic for you to see, maybe you can tell me colours?

Doing the HAPPY DANCE again. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Congratulations! =D>
Yes, very common for the adult birds to eat the shell after hatching, or even toss it out of the nest.
good luck, can't wait to see pics

OK So, I was coming on here to tell you that the first baby died last night. I was devastated this morning.

BUT THEN - Hubby was about to take the baby out of the nest, hubby screams out "MANDS COME HERE QUICK, LOOK AT THIS THING ITS NOT DEAD QUICK QUICK" it stuck its head up !!!!! then there was another head, hubby was calling out like super excited like he won the lotto, he is so funny, he adores the birds as much as I do. Big old biker dude playing with finches, so cute to see.

I was so relieved, I thought I was going to have another disaster, but they as cute as buttons with their furry little bodies. I cant wait to see what colour they are going to be. 2 out of 6 so far. I am about to go and make some egg food. Zebs love the egg so it should go well.

ahhhh what an adventure this is =D>

WOOP WOOP. \:D/ \:D/
