Avipow - anyone use this?
Has anyone used a product called AviPow? It's supposed to be an anti-fungal, and safe since it's a naturally derived product. I have a fledgling that I'm now suspecting has a yeast problem, and I'm considering trying to treat it with this product.
Have you used it, and what did you think about results? Do you think it helped? Or no difference? I'm curious to see what others might say on this product..
Thanks, Jeannine

What are the dropping like? Are they smelly, loose or off colored?

The droppings are loose, and off colored (yellowish), not sure if smelly (didn't smell it!). It looks like a chipmunk lately, with it's cheeks all puffed out. I thought it was just fluffy feathers at first, but the closer I look at it one side actually looks like the skin is puffed out too..
poor baby. It's still eating, and I've decided to give them all Thrive for a few days along with the probiotics. I think I need to try and get it to the vet and get this figured out... I've never seen anything like this before... very odd

Sounds like something is really going on. Here's a page from Laraine's site in related to head and beak https://ladygouldian.com/node/223
I would still contact Laraine or a vet ASAP. You don't want to wait too long with finches, once you realize something is wrong they can go down hill fast.
best of luck

Re: Avipow - anyone use this?
Update on my little "Chip" (short for chipmunk, since that's what it looks like!).
Went to vet on Monday, he didn't find anything crazy out of whack with poo samples, said it could be lymph nodes but seems like wrong placement (it's definitely cheek area). He put out an inquiry on vet forum (I'm assuming similar to this), and got no answers there. He was going to contact an expert from Akron for advice. He called Tuesday, the expert thinks it might be something fungal (yeast) and I have ordered fluconazole from their supplier, waiting for it to arrive in next couple days. I have been giving it medistatin (nystatin powder) on the soaked seeds, and the poo has become MUCH more normal, so am on right track but guess just needed something stronger.
I was so afraid it was going to be something horrible and contagious that I would have to euthanize all my birds, thank God it isn't! I'll try to get a picture of Chip to post, and see if any of you have seen anything like this. It's just so odd, first time I've ever seen anything like it.

Hi there. If you type chipmunk in the search bar in the health section of this forum there is a thread that has pictures of a finch that may have had a similar illness. Maybe you can contact that user and see if he ever figured out what it was.
