Jumping on dad now.
So my little John... My only boy apart from dad.
A while ago I asked how come he keeps singing to daddy? And everyone said this was completely normal.
He's not 4 months completely in love with dad. LOVE! Sings to him puffy dances as dad is just nice about it. Now John jumps on him and tried.
Now is this quite normal too? I just wanted to ask.

Re: Jumping on dad now.
My males sometimes sing and dance to each other. Not a lot of jumping on each other going on in that cage, tho.
But every other bird & critter in the house, well, they're big fans of "Love the One You're With". Girls, boys, whatever.
He'll figure it out when he gets a little older.

chirpy lol aww!! He's a happy boy! Maybe a little confused, too! I can't give any advice though because my little Sparrow would always sing and dance for mama and his sisters. Hopefully he will realize eventually that daddy isn't a girl! Though we already know that Roseanne wears all the pants! Lol!

Aw, Chirpy, he's just a teenager now. Showing off. Telling dad that he's all grown up and he'll take over from the old geezer now.
When some of mine were well grown and I added the last, when they got to that age and for a some months, they were a little band of juvenile delinquents, singing at everyone, jumping on everyone, trying to move up in the pecking order. Pippin, Badger, and Gaffer firmly kept them in their place and poor Hermit just hid out in his nest for four or five months. Eventually they settled down, and by now they are acting like rational birds again. Just give John some time to grow up.
Rocksteady is so mild mannered, like Hermit, that very likely John will come out of this as top bird. He will probably never stop the dancing and jumping entirely, but as he matures it should become a much more occasional thing. Anyway, he also has the ladies to show off to, so maybe Dad won't be harrassed too much.

Re: Jumping on dad now.
Thank you everyone!!
I guess its typical behavior! I wasn't worried and I really don't mind what his preferences are but you know I just didn't know if this was normal or he is just curious ;)
Dcompt yes rocksteady is so sweet... Everyone seems to love on daddy not mom. It's seiously "MOM" and "Daddy". No one wants mom. Lol. Everyone lines up to be near dad and groom and be groomed.. Roseane is eating by herself lol.
You're probably right he will come out on top

chirpy lol.. "MOM"!! You made me laugh hysterically!! Nobody wants Mom, lol. I agree with dcompt though. It seems like he's getting to that age where he's gonna show everyone who's boss! And everyone starts with Dad! He certainly is going to be a little pro at dancing! You should upload a video of his singing and dancing! He sounds like quite the cutie!

My little Georgie fluttering to daddy all day so cute.

Re: Jumping on dad now.
I was watching him dance today it was so funny i have never seen any bird fluff up like him it was exactly like a cats tail when its scared - or when mine does the crazy dance like thriller by MJ.. the side hopping like hes high on something
I totally missed out on the fluff ping pong days since mine looked like juvi adults by the time these guys gathered enough OOMPH to get out of the nest... I blame this on daddy.. being so persisitent than mom LOL. not that she would neglect but she did drop the baton on that one!

Re: Jumping on dad now.
Hello all,
Birds will pair up with pretty much ANY other bird, regardless of gender, age or species. My canary, Kevin, is driving me nuts at the moment, because he's "in that time of year" ie Spring, and he's trying to proposition my other two finches, both male, and both in separate cages. As he can't get to them directly, he spends his time feeding, mounting and guarding his disco ball. I've never had such an "active" bird! Yeesh!
