Gouldian Looking Strange

Post by ranchnanny » Wed Dec 04, 2013 2:23 pm

This Gouldian has been having problems flying and I believe its due to loosing her wing feathers. She started loosing feathers 6 months ago. She has a small growth on her left leg at the joint she bobs her tail all the time and her breast were enlarged. She eats like there is no tomorrow and drinks plenty of water.
Two months ago I put her in my hospital cage with heat and a small low perch. I started with worming meds then antibiotic, S76. Her feathers are growing back on her wings but they are sticking out in all directions..... I don't know what is with this bird. No Avian vet around. She chirps and hops around all day.

Would like to know if anyone else has had this happen to any of your Gouldians?

That sounds much more serious then what someone could diagnose over the internet :( Is it just the one bird or do others show the same type signs?
Have you tried emailing Dr Rob Marshall through Laraine's site?

Sure hope you can figure this out, best of luck

It's hard to tell from your picture, but the description does sound more serious. I would definitely call Lorraine and/or Rob Marshall for advice. Make sure other finches are not having similar problems too.
