Safe Branches ?

India is about to move into a bigger cage and I wanted to put some really branches in in his cage, but I was wondering if branches from a pine tree are safe, we live in the woods so there's a lot around. Also, how do I know what (fake) plants are safe to put in his cage? Thanks

Pine tree is safe. I am using pine perches since last three years without having any problem.

For perches I use mostly grapevines, apple and pear branches. Also other assorted bush and tree branches from the yard. Be sure it is fresh and not rotted or bug infested and you should be fine.

Branches are great to use as there seems an endless supply for our redecorating pleasure! I, too, use mostly grapevines and apple branches.

I leave all bark and leaves on the branches.

I use branches of purple plum tree for perches. My finches have strong grips when sitting on those textured purple plum tree perches.

Hello, pine branches are a great branch to use they have a rough bark on the outside which is great for their feet, allowing nails to rub up against it helps to keep them trimmed while the rough surface can also help get dead skin off feet. The only down side is that when the needles become Brown that the birds keep knocking them off so in time you only end up with branches but the needles can become nesting material in the end so not such a bad point.
