Identifying dilute gouldian chick

Post by yunier2002 » Thu Dec 19, 2013 9:57 pm

Looking to see if the experts here can tell me if the chick on the right is a dilute, I see a difference in color and lighter nodules and beak.

Parents are both black head yellows so they can get yellows, dilute, or green hens.

Thanks

So your male is a SF Pastel AKA SF Yellow? Nice combination :)
Have you tried going to Tiffany's site and compare pictures? Could be very helpful

I agree with Debbie, as SF yellow back male can produce this combination with a yellow back hen, but a DF yellow back male cannot.

If I had to guess, I would say the left is a dilute and the right is a yellow hen.

Yes debbie male is a SF Yellow, and I've been to that website and learned a lot but still difficult spotting a dilute that's why I was asking.

Brian, from what I see from that website debbie posted yellows have ligher eyes than this. But I might be wrong.

The baby on the left is a normal and the baby on the right is a Dilute or SF Pastel Green (SF Yellow) - that would be my guess.

At 2 weeks old now I can see the one on the left is a normal and the one on the right a yellow, either DFYellow male or Yellow female. Nailed it Tiffany! :D Thanks
