painted finch fledgling - pic added

Post by mickp » Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:11 am

my other half (she who wants to be obeyed) was in the aviary this morning having a look at the new gouldians as they are starting to show their true colours.
when she spotted two painted finch chicks sitting on the edge of their nest, before she could say anything they were both out and about, well more like practising their crash landings. will add pics soon.
am guessing that it was these two making all the noise I was hearing the other day.
have my fingers crossed at the moment as there is a lot of begging coming from an orange breast pairs nest.
if the seaon continues like this I will soon be going back to willie's poll and changing my selection :D

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Lucky you! I priced the painted finch at the last bird mart and they were 500.00 a pair. Out of my price range!

$500 a pair, think its time for me to look into exporting some. I sell mine for $50 a pair, and if individual birds are wanted the female is more expensive than the male.

Well I was quite shocked by that price also. In fact it was the breeder I always buy my birds from. Never had a problem. When he told me five hunderd...... I was like "are you serious"? And he was!
He is trying to find some swees for me. I am afraid to even ask what they will cost.

Crazy pricing for sure at $500 a pair!

Donna - I like your signature line - self explanatory to see all the types you have and what stage they are at.

That price is outrageous. That is a pretty nice looking bird. Knowing how i am with these finches i prbably would've bought a pair for that much. I just got my pair of owls yesterday, finally after saying i would get a pair for months.
Society Finches, Fire Finches, Strawberry Finches, Owl Finches, Plum Head Finch, Goldbreast Waxbill Finches, Orange Cheek Waxbill Finches, Blue Capped Cordon Finches, Zebra Finches, Bronzewing Mannikin Finches, Red-Cheek Cordon Blue Finches, and Button Quail
