A few weeks ago I got two zebra finches and made the decision to give them grit. Now my question is this: If I put the grit in the same dish as their seed will they eat it or should I give it separate? I am also wondering for adding other things like crushed egg shell and fresh veg or fruit. is it best to give in a separate dish or is it fine mixed with their seed?
Thanks
to mix grit or keep is separate?

Re: to mix grit or keep is separate?
I personally keep it separate. I have seed hoppers for the seed, and I use small D cups hanging on the sides of each cage, one for a mineral mix (oystershell grit, crushed eggshells, minerals, charcoal) and another one for herb salad. The eggfood and veggies are offered in small dishes on the floor of the cage. I usually put eggfood on one half of the dish and veggies on the other half.

Welcome to the forum
Their mineral mix should be in a separate container and available at all times. Mineral mix should be things like oyster shells, egg shells and cuttlebone not gravel.
Fresh fruit and veggies should be offered in another dish and changed out daily.
Their seed also should be separate so you can leave it in the cage without spoiling from wet foods and top off when needed.
good luck
