Re: Hand Feeding 14 Day Old Gouldian
Again, Thank you all for the support, it means a lot. Nice to be on a forum with such compassionate people!
Good news today...First egg from the pair hatched just a few hours ago! Crop was empty when I saw him, but He couldn't have been more than an hour or two out of the egg, so I'm not too worried about that...for now. They Did great with their first chick, until He was two weeks old. I'm praying they'll follow through this time around! The other two good eggs had pipped when I saw them, so they should be out by tomorrow. The last two eggs were late DIS, I plan to take them out once all the others have hatched. Its a good thing I left them in! The bottom shell from the chick that hatched somehow was perfectly stuck to the bottom of another egg! Thank God it was one of the bad ones, there Is no way I could have gotten it off without cracking the egg! Dodged one bullet so far...hopefully the last with this clutch!

Congrats! I'd leave the DIS eggs for the newly hatched babies to have support while they're so tiny. Later, you can remove them, such as; when you band the babies.

Re: Hand Feeding 14 Day Old Gouldian
Thanks guys
! finchmix22 I usually leave infertile or early DIS eggs in the nest, but since these were late, I'm worried about them rotting. I have some infertile eggs I could swap the DIS ones for....or just leave them until banding?

The eggs will dry out, so there is not a problem leaving old ones in the nest. They'll be fine until banding day.

Re: Hand Feeding 14 Day Old Gouldian
Photos of the new Gouldian chicks! First pic was taken yesterday right after the lights came on, so that would explain the empty crops. The rest were taken today, some pics of chicks and of the pair.

Pics taken today...

I'm thinking the chicks are GB hen, and two YB, maybe the one could be a SFYB?

Love the blue cast to the males head!

And the only shot I could get of the hen.

Thanks guys
! I'm quite partial to this pair, especially the male, so I would really love to get some fledglings from them!
