Lady Gouldian not sitting on eggs
I have a pair of gouldians that laid 6 eggs. They stopped for 4 days then layed the 7th egg. What should I do. Once I saw the 7th egg, I marked each egg just in case I have to throw them away. Has anyone expierenced this? Is this normal?

how old are the birds and are they sitting now? if they have begun to sit tight and some of the first 6 eggs hatch I wouldnt hold out to much hope for egg 7 as its siblings will be larger and the little ones survival chances not so good. you will have to wait and see how it goes, if they are sitting candle the eggs after about a week, remove any that are infertile this will help to improve the survival chances of the others

How does removing infertile eggs improve the survival chances of the others? The only thing I can think of is by having less eggs to sit on - thereby giving those eggs better coverage...?mickp wrote:how old are the birds and are they sitting now? if they have begun to sit tight and some of the first 6 eggs hatch I wouldnt hold out to much hope for egg 7 as its siblings will be larger and the little ones survival chances not so good. you will have to wait and see how it goes, if they are sitting candle the eggs after about a week, remove any that are infertile this will help to improve the survival chances of the others
