Hi there, wondering if I could pick your brains?!
Stumbled across this very useful forum tonight- been really helpful so far. I am re-establishing my finch stock, as I stopped keeping a few years ago after moving from zebra finches to budgies and cockatiels ,and have missed/ regretted it ever since. Collected some more zebras(crested!!!) today and am viewing some bengalese(crested! woo!)hecks, gouldians, parrot, strawberry, cherry (and poss more varieties not sure what the supplier I use will be getting in) throughout this week. My aviary is 20 foot by 6ft, with a 6x6ft shed attached. I know that for the varieties I would like to keep, I will need to heat the shed- my question is, how exactly can I go about that? I know you can run a heat lamp or similar from a car battery, but don't have a clue what I would need/where to get supplies/ and how to do it!! Is it safe to have a heat lamp in a shed? Could I use reptile infrared heat lamp??
Any help/advice would be much appreciated!!! Thankyou so muck in advance!
