Thanks Ginene & Deborah! :D

I looked up pastels and realized I already knew what they were. Duh! For some reason I couldn't find any information on GB & YB pastels for the longest time. Thank God for the Finch Info Center!

I ended up with a little of everything as far as mutations go. Some are just finishing up their annual molt so there are a few pin feathers around their faces. They're all really familiar with people so it's been a breeze to get them to settle in & socialize today. Here are some photos from a few minutes ago:

The breeder mentioned the YH YB WB male was also pastel but I don't think you can have WB pastels? No idea. Either way he's pretty, and loves to sing. :)

Very pretty birds. Congratulations. You'll love them. They are one of my favorites even if they are a headache on the breeding department.

Thanks Deborah & Colt!! :)

I feel very lucky to have gotten a great start, all the main mutations accounted for. So far they're loving it here and I couldn't be happier with that. As far as breeding goes I plan to wait a while but it will be an interesting challenge to say the least. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks chirpy kyubi & lpappy!! :)

No blues for now :) Maybe when I'm a little more brave.. lol! I hear they don't do well with the Dr. Marshall system and that's a huge pillar of the diet I created so I'm hesitant to bring any into the aviary.

Those seed hoppers are a godsend.. I have to buy exactly half as much seed with them. Awesome!!

I have those same seed hoppers, couldn't live without them. The only problem I have with them is that they are on the inside of most of my cages, and the birds tend to sit on top and poop!

I have that same problem too Sally!! In my Gouldian aviary there are only 2 small cage doors and I have 3 of those seed hoppers, and 3 dishes which hang on the door for fresh foods so all my feeders hang on the inside. I scrub the poo off whenever I change the catch tray, kind of annoying but still way better than cups of seed. Using fake plants over the top helps.
