respiratory infection?
my owl finch has been opening and closing his mouth, sticking his tongue out, continuously. he was treated with scatt so i don't think it's ASM. there are no other things going on that i can see. if it is respiratory, what can i give him?

What are his dropping like? Wet, loose, different color like yellow or green? Sticky? That makes a difference which med might be needed. As always, give heat in one spot of cage/flight.

Could he see you? He didn't look sick or like he was having trouble breathing, but when they feel scared or threatened, they open their beaks. I hope he is alright.

I agree with finchmix22. My birds sometimes do this when I approach the cage but stop. I would try to observe him without him knowing to see if this is something he continuously does. He looks okay to me.
