There are 7 Pekin Robbins available for sale. 3 pairs and one extra male. $ 250.00 each. $ 1500.00 for all seven. The problem is, they are in Grande Prairie Alberta Canada. The guy says delivery may be possible.... But I'm not sure how far he's willing to go.

Thanks for that, that really is a good price for them. Unfortunately, even if he could ship them to the U.S., I am so broke right now that new birds are truly just a dream.

What was that old saying... "Liar, liar, pants on fire!!!" I have been flat broke a couple of times in my life, and I minded plenty.

Now my philosophy is, that as long as there is a roof over the head, food on the table, a walmart somewhere near and a petshop not too far (with reasonable prices) then life is good.

WOW you have all come up with some amazing birds !!!! I hope I haven't set you up wanting them too bad !!

However, after ruling out one or another for different reasons, I have decided to stick with the Gouldians if I can get any. You really cant go past their beauty. I currently have orange heads but would love some black heads or even something different. I can't go into blues as they are way way too expensive and I am not in a position to be getting those but some others would be nice.

Sale is on Sunday...have to wait and see what comes up.

No more Zebbies until I have my wrap around porch/aviary... and the chances of that happening are as good as my winning the lotto.

Anyhoo, as mentioned before... I went to the pet shop for some cat food and somehow ended up taking a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in the bird corner. Darn it, was never any good with directions
So there I was looking at the three ugly female canary prospective brides, thinking ugh-ugh. Red cheek cordons, nah. A couple of Stars... Not my cup of tea. Zebras...no! no! A thousand times NO! A white Jave with grey spots all over, don't think so. Two parson's... Ne...o. Gold breasted finches, not in good shape. Gouldians...well one looked like there was something wrong with it's beak. I called the bird manager over and pointed it out to her. She said it needed to be trimmed.While we were chatting, I kept my eye on a very young Gould (not yet coloured) who was trying to sing, and at the price tag of $140.00 attached to his cage.
Then from somewhere I heared this voice saying ( could it have been me?) I think I would like two of thise Orange Cheeked Waxbills, those two who are in nice feather condition, yes, the ones with the nice tails.

lovezebs I knew this post was going to end up with people buying birds they did not plan on ..... very pretty little orange cheeks you have there. I am sticking to the Gouldians (I hope) I really don't want to come home with a truck load !!

Ginene....one day I would love the same thing.....I think we ALL would love that...I already dream of the house I would have if I was lucky enough to win lotto...ohhh the birds I would have.

Orange cheeks are my favorite waxbill. They are such curious little birds and I love the song when the male starts singing. If my local pet store carried the variety of finches yours does I would be over run with birds.

The top of my got to have list right now is a pair of Peters Twinspots or Red Faced Stars.
There is a bird show this weekend, very tempted to go.

There were also budgies, lovebirds, tiels, african grey, and european finch, red eared waxbills, male bronze canary.... and did I mention the two red faced Star boys....?
Dan, do you have Orange cheeks? Is there a way of sexing them? Don't know if mine are boys or girls (?) Also, do they need any special care, food, treats, nest????

They are so so cute, with their little tails flicking from side to side. They've made themselves right at home and have gone after green foods like starved lions. LOL.

Oh Mandy girl, what have you started???

As to the little Orange Cheeks... It was 'one of those things', don't know what came over me, but I don't regret it. They are absolutely amazing. So tiny but oh so cute. I can see myself falling in love with these little guys, I'm already half way there.

Goodluck with the new Goulds. I know that little fellow I was looking it was quite enchanting. If he had been just a bit cheaper I'm sure he would have come home along with my orange cheeks, but $140.00 seemed a little much. Sale? Maybe? I'm no expert on colours, but I think mauve chest ( just a hint of colour) and creamy yellow tummy (maybe)

PS. Heared that you guys in the land down under were expecting some horrible weather. Hope all is well with you and yours.
