Lixit Waterer help on finches using this type

Post by anne22 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 11:09 am

Has anyone had success with their finches using these bottles? I have two of them but it takes about 15 jiggles of the wire to get water to finally come out of them compared to the old Water buddy bottles. My finches can't seem to get it out of the LIxit bottles. Is there a way to loosen up the wire to make the water come out easier? I contacted to co. after buying the first bottle and they sent me a replacement one, but same problem. :(

We finally figured out a way to fix the two lixit water bottles that we have. It seems that they spout is just tightened up too much on the ones that we have, and so the water does not come out easily. We carefully took a wrench to fit up near the plastic part of the bottle to hold the metal spout area tight, and then take another wrench to slightly loosen the two pieces of the metal spout, where they are joined about 3/4" in. or so out from the bottle does the trick. That way we could get the water to come out with just a few jiggles of the wire, and our finches took to them well this way. The end of the spout ends up turned sideways but the birds don't mind.
