Hi.
Referring to the set of five pictures, that include Sharra on her swing, eating in her seed tray and a blurry close up of her head. There was a bit of chatty chat in there following the pictures, so I wasn't sure if people got to see the photos or not. Sorry, one of those oops things.

Hello Gouldian Folks.
An update on Sharra. She hasn't improved really, but not any worse either. Don't quite know what to make of it.
She eats, drinks, swings on her swing. Yet on the other hand, she's still puffed up, still tucks her head occasionaly, still spends time under the heat lamp with eyes closed sun bathing and still looks.... well, miserable, is the word that comes to mind.
Here are a few more pictures of her today.


Any more thoughts or ideas? Is this a normal look for a moulting youngster? To me she looks like a deathly ill love bird... But then what do I know??? Any feedback or advice will be appreciated.

Certainly not an expert but if she's eating and drinking and acting fairly normal except for the lethargy then I think she's ok. Moving her from the store, to the lady's house, and then finally yours might have stressed her a bit on top of the impending molt, but it's clear you're offering her all the TLC you can and I'm sure she'll be fine.

Be glad she's not looking like mine were a couple of months ago...

At least your guys are looking the way they're supposed to look...(I think?) like porcupine pin cushions. Now that's normal for them isn't it? This poor kid looks like a seventy year old feather boa that was worn by Mae West.

lol Mine seemed to go through the fluff and lose lots of tiny fluffy feathers before the pincushion look. So maybe she's just getting ready for that.

I hope so my friend. There's nothing so looking as an unhappy bird. Still don't know what colour she might turn out to be, IF she ever gets out of this miserable slump.

I'd guess BH (black head) PB (purple breast) GB (green back) but her head might molt differently. I've not had any juvies molt yet so I don't know how to guess on them really. Just going with what she looks like now.

And of course she could be split for something like WB (white breast), but you wouldn't know unless you bred her to a WB and got WB...
