Welcome to the forum! Hopefully, Cindy or someone else who breeds zebras will know for sure. My guess is a normal or a lightback/fawn? Cute little one.

thank you finchmaxx
when it hatched , the skin color was dark so i don't think its fawn
and that may indicate that it's a male , because fawn females always give fawn female hatchlings bcoz the fawn mutation is sex linked, though i'm not sure about that :?
and the chick doesn't have a white area between the beak and the tear drop as normal gray chicks looks alike ( in google :D )
and that's what confuses me

If the male is not split to anything, you'll get 50%normal/fawn males and 50%normal hens. So this is probably a normal hen.

I believe normal hens would still show a tear drop. So the lack of that is indicative of something, although what I don't know. Cindy could probably tell us. ;)

there are two things I noticed on both the baby and the hen....the baby has no white between the beak and the area where the tear would be....that is an indicator for black face.

The hen does her chest color a match the area between the tear and the beak...the picture to me is cloudy and hare to see completely...is it possible to get a clearer picture of the hen.

The youngster might be a BF (Black face) which is dominant....mom may be BF also.

Thanks alot cindy for the great news coz having a black face here in Iraq is not common , I really hope it's a black face male coz recently I bought a pair of bcbb and mixing these mutations will give me a lot of surprises 8)

sorry cindy i didn't notice ur question
the color between beak and tear drop looks lighter than the chest color but it's hard to say if it's white or light beige :?
