I'd go ahead and leave it for a couple of days anyway. It doesn't hurt them, and you can be sure Rosanne is OK.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear Roseanne is unwell.

Is the abnormal breathing constant or intermittent?

If it's constant, then I might think about treating her for air sac mites and/or a respiratory infection.

Breathing problems can cause them to go downhill very quickly. Poor kid.

I agree with Sally. I would definitely leave the light in there for at least a few days, especially if she's using it. In fact, I'd keep it up for as long as she uses it. The heat helps them regulate their body temperature. So instead of expending energy on heating, they can use that energy for healing.

Thank you :) I will leave it on for a few days longer after she seems better or isn't using it.
Though... She doesn't seem to use it at all. The others like it especially George - the daughter. She just hanging out there not sleeping just likes it.

As for Roseanne, she seems to be the same if not better. Like later yesterday she hasn't done the panting or weird noises. The breathing isn't so bad that her tail feathers are bouncing up and down as it was yesterday day. She seems to breathing just as fast as the others so maybe she's getting better. I am just glad whatever it was I was able to notice it and that she's able to eat drink... Ah such little creatures so much worries!

Hi Chirpy.
I would keep heat on until you're sure that all is well. I keep heat on my guys every day because they don't really get any amount of sunlight. They love it and wait for me to put light on. Then they sit there and 'sun bathe'. There is always someone molting or pre-molting or post-molting, so...

I hope Roseanne is feeling better. :-D

lovezebs well not a new job, "a job". I love retail so back to that ;)

But I can't cover my bird at night cause by te time I am home it is passed their bed time so if I do I'd probably scare them to death.. And icant trust Jason lol! The reason why I do is because they wake up at 430/5 when the outside birds get up! Actually those birds are up all day, I hear them chirping at 3am!

I hope she's better tomorrow. They really enjoyed the egg food today!

Nothing wrong with retail. It's fun.
As to covering feathered kids when you get home, I have found out that if you do it very quietly in the dark, there is no panic. It seems as if they are out of it in the dark and don't seem to notice things as much. I think I could reach into the cage and grab them, and they wouldn't realize it until they were in my hand.
But then again, that's entirely up to you.

lovezebs tey have enough light to see as I use a red bulb for the heat. I have read those are good. I couldn't afford the ceramic ones right now :( I am so pooped the red glow won't keep me up.. And as long as there are no more weird chirps I should stay asleep til the morning! (130am soon so technically today...) the dark plus dozing when you cover they probably don't notice it til its done maybe :) like when someone covers you with a blanket when you are sleeping (I miss mom!) and you just know but you're still out.
Retail is fun. Its mindless opposed to paper work. Its fun and the customers are nice. I work only 15-20 hours at Marshall's until she's in school and I can be more flexible hour wise then hope to get back to animal care :) at orientation they said they had some in Canada but named something different. Can't remember what. Its only my second day so I'm exhausted haha. Five piddly little hours and I feel like I worked 12!

Well, Chirpy girl, goodluck with job and with your Roseanne. I hope all will be well.
As for getting into animal care career, once Lacy is in full time school, you might have a little more time for a course or two. If that's your dream, then make the time.

Roseanne is OK, I don't even know anymore... But maybe that's good since I can't tell she's sickly or well.

@delray thank you! I haven't worked since I left Japan to move to Chicago in February 2010 LOL. They good thing is everyone thinks I'm freshman at college part timing for pocket money. Hahahah I then go "really? LOL I AM THIRTY." Haha

delray no she was born in Chicago. I'm born in Atl, I've just lived abroad :)

Checked on the guys, everyone is roosting BUT dad who wants to sleep in the food dish. He's the only one that fits it because he's so tiny.
