She laid an egg! (Funny picture)
My 10 year old finch laid all these eggs in a row. They all had very thick shells too, and she never became egg bound. Now this was long before I knew anything about getting egg bound, that letting them lay so many eggs will make them calcium deficient, or anything else. It really is a miracle my bird is alive. That's why I never take credit for her longevity. Before I met all of you on this website, I didn't know what I was doing except I had to feed and water them. I had no idea about scaly mites, heat lamps, sick cages or anything else. You've really helped me a lot!
Well, out of all these eggs, or any thereafter, there never was a hatchling born. She did successfully foster two chicks, which made me happy, and she loved every minute of it. I'm happy for every day she's still with me because I know it's really just a gift I received!

I didn't count them. She was an egg laying machine. It's amazing how thick they were, about 3x as thick as any other finch egg I ever saw. I guess that's why she never got egg bound, or even the threat of it. Had a good calcium level for some reason. I was shocked the day I found them! She didn't have a mate at that time so I never looked to see if she laid eggs. One day I saw all those and boy was I surprised!!!
