I know, there's nothing close to me. I finally had to break down and get a finch replacement on two occasions at Petco when mates died. Once it had scaly mites. Petco is 75 miles away. The closes bird seed AT ALL is 35 miles away and it's awful seed and the expiration date was expired. God forbid I need anything else. It's hard. Let me know what you get...with pictures if you can. :)

Do you know Disco the parakeet? He has you tubes and his own face book page. My parakeet sits in front of the computer and watches him. He copies all his phrases. He won't copy one thing we say though because we got him used to Disco talking. He says things like..."I kissed a bird...I liked it!" "A parakeet, what is it...a green and yellow (the rest of the phrase he doesn't say yet is..."bird that talks, but that's not important right now"). He says, "I has cheeseburger" He loves to talk about cheeseburgers! "Pooper scooper doggie dooer" "Bark like a dog...woof woof" "Yakety yak!" His all time favorite..."Gonna get your belly!" He's said that over ten times in a row....until I'm ready to scream! "Never shake a baby bird" and every variation of baby bird...bird...pretty bird....and SO much more! It's really funny because he mixes phrases up too! You should watch the videos. They're so cute. Here's a link to one of them if it comes out. So cute! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCWRXDutfdk

He says that and about 20 times more than that. He's a year and a half. We got him at 7 months old and he knew one phrase, which he doesn't say any more. He says many of the phrases on each of Disco's videos. All I have to do is say..."Jo Jo?" his name with a tone like I'm inquiring, and he starts going crazy chirping. I say..."You want to hear Disco?" He goes berserk! I open his cage and he flies to the front of the computer and watches vieo after video. I used to put the top of a little cage for him to sit on and he'd try to climb on the perches and play with the disco ball. Now he has his own disco ball, and just sits on the desk and watches. So cute and funny! I love how he carries on a conversation with Disco...like he's talking to him saying his name...and is always saying "cheeseburger." :)

That's awesome! I want a female too but my husband doesn't because he's afraid Jo Jo will stop talking and just pay attention to her. He's hysterical. He thinks the bird on the bird seed bag is a mate. He runs over to the bag...a green and yellow parakeet...sings to it, runs back to the perch...does this funny thing....I call it twerking. I hate to say it but it's really...humping the perch. Then he runs back and sings to her again. It's the most bizarre behavior I ever saw. I have it on video but I can't seem to upload it. I guess it's too big. He is the craziest bird I ever saw. You're going to enjoy them so much! Raising baby parakeets would be awesome!!! :)
