I have a deep glass blow that is narrow at the bottom and wide at the top. Six finches can go in it and kick away and no seeds get out of it. Before that happened I had a band 6 inches wide that wrapped around the cage...kinda like a belt. It has elastic at the top and elastic at the bottom so it slides down over the cage to the bottom and holds on snug and keeps the seed in. You can make it as wide and as colorful as you want. I also have (for one of my flight cages, someone made it and it came with it) a dark cotton cover that it form fitted, sown at each corner but zips up on one corner so it's easier to lift off. It can still fit over the elastic band seed blocker. Wish I had more of them for all my flight cages.

Can anyone recommend a nice large cage for 6 lady gouldian males? The cage they are in is ok but it is a split level and I have 3 in the top and 3 in the bottom and I want all 6 to be in the same flight together. I don't have room for the 2 larger ones that are connected together though

try googling "candy and nut dish with handle". I've found several that way.

I finally got it done! I might need to add some velcro to the piece that is covering the gap where the cage divider goes, but the cover and seed catcher are complete (and look pretty snazzy too, IMO) It really wasn't that hard to get together :) I'm new to sewing, so I'm pretty happy when stuff turns out LOL

Aw, thanks  The pics are from far away partly to show the whole project and partly so you can't see the crooked suture line (sewing line? whatever you call it), but at least I made sure the hem was straight even if the line of sewing that keeps it hemmed is all weird lol I'm hoping the pattern will hide any runaway bird poops :D

Thalia That's great! =D> CommaHolly If this link doesn't come out..."Google" Myrtlewood nut trays and look in images. There are a lot...some deep, some not, some you can take apart from larger ones to make work. https://www.google.com/search?q=myrtlew ... 23&bih=494

It's called a 'seam' and you did a great job. I gotta admit I live a mobile home in Florida so my babies are in the screen porch. I throw a cotton cover over them and just sweep the floor up.
