Gouldian strange colour young

Post by gpeene » Sat Jun 14, 2014 1:23 pm

I have a grey headed pastel blue single factor purple breasted cock bird, and a orange/black headed white breasted green hen, and when I have checked the gouldian genetics forecast it doesn't give the colours of the young I have. Any help please.

young from left to right. 1st (hen) bh/wb/gb, next (cock) oh/pb/gb, and (hen) bh/pb/gb.

Using your genetic forecaster, if you make the male PB/WB you'll get a white breast baby hen like you have. Making the male a RH/YH will get a YH youngster.

First of all hens can NOT be split to BH

Your "(hen) bh/pb/gb" looks to be a Yellow Tipped Beak which would make it genetically a YH, though it may just be the picture.

So your male must be split to YH and split to WB to get the chicks you describe.

Well - secondly two black headed birds, regardless of beak color, can't produce anything other than visually black headed offspring.

But... Your hen isn't black headed - I can clearly see colored feathers in her mask, though they are darker like a blood red or orange. Since her beak is darkened I'm having a hard time determining if it's red or orange, but since you've got an orange headed offspring it seems like orange is more likely.

Also, in the picture of your offspring - the far left hen is a BH not genetically OH, but the far right hen looks to be BH YTB, so she would be a BH genetically OH hen.

All of your hens produced would be visually BH though because Dad is BH :)

So my question is what colours for the cock and hen will I have to select in the genetic forecaster, because the colours I have selected are obviously wrong. eg cock(bh/pb/pastel blue).

Thanks .

So if I enter cock (bh,ytb. p/wb, sfbb) hen (yh,ytb. wb. gb) into genetics forecast it should give me what the offspring will be?
Thanks for all your help.

gpeene said the hen was "orange/black headed white breasted green hen" not black headed. :?

So do you agree then that the male must be split to YH and split to WB to get the chicks described? After all that was the question :)

Hello

Your female from parental generation has a yellow head. It´s a yellow headed bird and no matter how much of black color is there. Although has the female only little bit of yellow colour or read colour in feathers on its head, it´s a yellow headed or red headed bird independently on how much of black colour is there.

If you put in Gouldian genetics forecaster right notes about parents, then you will calculate the offspring.

I misread it, obviously! I was looking at the description of the offspring and projected that onto the description of the mom.
So do you agree then that the male must be split to YH and split to WB to get the chicks described?
Yes - but I clearly misread her original post, so when I read this
Your "(hen) bh/pb/gb" looks to be a Yellow Tipped Beak which would make it genetically a YH, though it may just be the picture.
I thought you were referring to the mother hen, not the daughter pictured. :p

George, your male is BH split to YH.PB split to WB.SF Pastel Blue AKA SF Yellow Blue and your hen is YH.WB.Normal :)

Hello Debbie.

I'm understood the question right. I´m in: Sun Jun 15, 2014 3:50 pm wrote the whole genotype of parents.
I described them with whole names.
But your shortcuts are probably better than complete names. Oh my God :)

Sorry Marek could not see that picture on my cell phone so did not see their "whole names" :)
Just a note, when I use your calculator (if it decides to work) the males picture doesn't come up :(
