Debbie, what difference is there in BH/YH or YH/BH. If the bird is visually black head, shouldn't you say BH/YH?
Also, the hen. What is the diff if you say YH versus BH YTB???

BH/YH means the bird is visually BH with a hidden gene for YH
YH/BH means visually YH with a hidden gene for BH, remember hens can not be split to BH
BH YTB is a genetically YH bird but can not show the yellow color in the head because they don't have a red gene so it's visually BH with a Yellow Tipped Beak like all other YH's

thanks for the explanation, Debbie...I've wondered why some of my BH hens have a yellow beak instead of a black beak. have to consistently review these genetics.
Pretty birds, George! Congratulations on breeding these wonderful finches! I am attempting to breed mine and no success yet...
