My birds are now paying their way.

Post by dfcauley » Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:30 pm

This morning I went to the bird mart in Atlanta to take some of my babies. It was very hard to leave them behind. But necessary since I have now got 11 gouldian fledgings.

I traded them for 50 pounds of bird seed , 10 pounds of millet and a strawberry hen.

I won't get the hen until next week because they are coming in from Canada. They are domestic birds and the babies of a NFSS judge who breeds them. So now finally my little strawberry cock will have a friend.

They had some beautiful Peters Twinspots and Cherry finches. I almost got them until I found out he was getting the strawberrys.

Maybe next time......

Donna....how are the bird marts doing in your area....are they down in breeders and customers?

I know here in MN they are way down. Economy is affecting everything here! :(

It's always a little difficult to give or sell birds off. Sounds like you did well though and can't wait for pics of the new Strawberry next weekend!

Deborah, today I was really surprised by how few were there. Of course I got up and went early and it was cold, so maybe things got better.
I was really happy today to come away without spending money.

Liz, I won't get her until the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but will post pictures as soon as I do.

I did not trade gouldians. I am keeping all of them until they finish their first adult molt.

I traded gold breasted, courdon blue, society and owls.
