That is a very pretty bird. Ughh..everytime i see a new finch i want it. Lol!

My Plum Heads are at the cuttle bone non-stop. If you haven't seen them have a peck at it, maybe grate some up and sprinkle it over some of their seed... I have two babies at the moment, and more on the way....

yeah i think some do call it that from the coloration on the head which glows a dark red in sun light.

Two seasons ago,I lost all my hens,and only had cock birds,I managed to buy Four hens at a very premium price,Close to pair price.and my cocks have been making up for lost time since.They are hard to sell here as they are licenced birds.but I don't care I keep what I like, not what the market demands.

Hi Jameyboo2 it is very addictive hobby this keeping finches, in NZ this finch is very underrated but looks great in a mixed collection Sable

Hi Finchie, great idea, i will try the grating cuttlefish, great to know that this bird is breeding and has a strong presents in averies out there.
