Very nice! Are those nest in the background? What are they made of? What is the size of your cage? I love all the foliage. I'm sure your birds love all the places to hide! Beautiful!

Oh the jealousy! LOL
So gorgeous, Karen!
I've never seen a gold breasted in real life; I've been dying to see one in person!

I'd have every one of those birds if I had a good breeder!
I've seen tons of beautiful finches based out of Miami so I may just have to make the drive!

The flight is a 3 foot cube. It sits in a corner by a window and takes up a ton of space. I found the cage at an exotics store in Houston. I think it was meant for some other kind of critters, but the bar spacing is perfect. The photos I took are zoomed in as far as my camera phone would go, hence the lousy quality. They had to disassemble the cage (it was brand new, a model now discontinued) to get it out of their doors and into my truck. And now that it is set up, it's not going anywhere, lol.

I have a long wall that currently has a huge entertainment center that I would like to use as an aviary wall. I would like to string several cages together there and give them even more space.

The foiliage is from an arts and crafts store. It's all zip tied to the bars. In the corners are these natural material planters made with a bowl on the bottom for plants. The finches build their own nests in them. I have nest boxes, but the foiliage is so dense that I'm not sure they have ever found an entrance. In one corner they have built four nests like a finchy condo. I can see them go in and disappear somewhere. When they shoot out, you can't tell from where.

I do have some regular wicker nests, but they seem to prefer the ones they've built. I provide coconut fiber, colored crinkled paper that one would use in an Easter basket, natural unbleached packing paper from the Rebublic Of Tea (love that stuff), excelsior, un refined cotton, chicken feathers and sisal and jute and natural grasses from my yard. The lavenders love to decorate the outside of their nests similar to a bower bird's, using the colored paper and seed heads from the grasses.

Sounds like a great setup for your birds, giving them lots of privacy.
