i wanted to give these guys a nice place to sleep together without all the egg laying. this has been working quite well they pile into the same tent every night and are the first ones out in the morning.

Great Pic . They sure look happy in there. But dont be surprised if a hen starts to lay in there...some finches see these tents as nesting spots

agreed. so far no eggs and it's been a few weeks. with the nests there were eggs all the time. i like to see them as happy as they can be. the owls sleep in a box nest on the other end of the cage. no eggs there ever. i'm hoping for babies with them but, no go.

I love the look of these - they look so cozy and comfy.
But I've never seen them in-shop.
What type of fabric is it made out of?
Fabrics make me nervous, as little toes can get snagged and mangled very easily. They can also get hung up.
Can you launder it? Or do you just throw it out when it gets dirty?

I'd bought something similar for my six Socies. Mine has a firm base and the sides and top are soft material. It has a round entrance in the side and you can hang it up. All six pile up in there to sleep. They love it.

it's a nice soft material inside. i have 3 of them up. in Arizona it would be called Sheriff Arpaio's Tent City . i also cut up an old shirt and put that on the bottom of the tents so they can be thrown out whenever i clean the cage. and yes, the tent material is machine washable.

I have something similar for my Parrotlet. It has the fabric and a perch for her to sit on. She sleeps in there every night. I like it because it keeps her snug and cozy, but it doesn't get all dirtied up, like a tent with a solid floor. It is also machine washable, like rancho2 mentioned.

We had one of those tents in our linnie pair's cage, and the female started laying eggs in it because that was the only "nest" available. We felt bad when the eggs rolled out onto the bottom of the cage and broke. By the time we got a nest box up and the hen decided to go into it to lay, she had laid four eggs and lost four. She subsequently laid three more in the box and two of those hatched, fledged and weaned.
