River Shrimp?

Post by MiaCarter » Sat Jul 19, 2014 8:38 pm

So, we made a Petsmart run today to pick up some supplies and I sent my husband over to the freezer section to grab some bloodworms.

I have no idea how, but he grabbed river shrimp instead.
I didn't notice it until I got home and opened up this container of these tiny, adorable shrimp! They're very cute.

Anyways, I put a couple in the food bowl and they ignored them. But they ignore all new foods, so I don't know whether they're ignoring because they're new or because they're just not something finches eat.

Does anyone feed river shrimp to their finches?
If so, do you feed them whole or crush them up?
I swear I've seen them on bird supply sites, but I'm not sure if it's something you'd feed to a finch, maybe better for larger birds?

Maybe the Seagulls would like them.

LOL Perhaps!
Don't laugh. If my guys didn't eat them, I had planned to put them outside for my lovely grackle friends!

I chopped them up into little bits and someone ate them.
Polished off the entire portion of chopped-up bits, but ignored the whole ones (as I expected they would).
It says on the can that they're suitable for insect-eating birds, turtles and fish.

I haven't heard of these, but so long as the protein content is good and they like them I'd let them eat them.

Agree ... As long as they have nutrition value in it, I don't think it would hurt the finches... Look on the bright side .. Something that nature won't offer ... But captive does
