The sad decision

Post by Corkysgirl » Tue Jul 29, 2014 8:19 pm

I had to make a sad decision that's been a hard one to make. My birds mean everything to me. My decision did not come easily, and it is still with great regret. Today I said goodbye to many of my beloved society finches, 22 of them, and also 8 zebra finches. Because of health reasons, and having to depend more and more on my husband caring for them, this needed to be done. They will be happy in their new home. Someone who is very knowledgeable with birds, and has been wanting (my) finches for a long time. I take comfort in that. I am still trying to get a parakeet friend for Jo Jo, if it's possible for his sake, (my husband is still not convinced he needs this, but I saw a lovely yellow one today) [-o< and I'm not giving up hope of a canary, though the almost 6 hour ride round trip makes it impossible for that to happen just now. Life is always changing...but they will be cared for well. That's the most important thing. :(

Corkysgirl...I am so sorry to hear that you had to rehome your birds. Thank goodness they went to someone you know and trust. I am sending you much love and many hugs...

Corkysgirl Oh wow, I'm sorry sorry! That was a hard decision, but I think it is the best for you. I feel really bad for you, and you will be in my prayers, and probably in many others. [-o< I'm sure your finches will be great wherever you put them. Good luck!! The people on the forum will be there for you, including me!! :)

Corkysgirl
I empathize with how hard it is to rehome finches. When I was going through chemotherapy, I had to sell half my babies. It was very hard, but some people on the forum whom I know well took them, so that made it easier.
The hardest for me was getting used to the quiet....I am so sorry you are having health problems. Prayers for your recovery and strength! [-o< [-o<

Thanks Brian, you're so sweet! I think I'll be fine in a day or so. It's just hard, and weird. A lot quieter here. I still have 10 zebras and my parakeet and parottlet. (besides my farm birds my husband cares for though) I just can't believe how quiet it is. Time for some music!

Thanks Deborah finchmix22, That's the situation I'm in now after a relapse. My husband works 2pm-2am, the large garden, farm animals, and redoing his deceased fathers house (a hoarders house in bad condition) so we can move in one day. And he is a Pastor...does almost all the housework. He's really getting thin. I'm going to lose my husband and have birds at this rate. I had to take something off his load. Thanks for your prayers. I believe they are what kept me this far, and will keep me from here on out. :D

Yeah practicing is hard. Takes a lot of discipline when you would rather be doing other things, but the rewards are great! I have friends in Baltimore that play well, and the piano also. I'm not so musically inclined. My son is. I admire people who are. Keep it up. You'll be really glad you did. Thank you Brian! :D

Thats what my parents always say. We are all a musical family, dad and brother drums, mom sax and clarinet, sister clarinet and me trumpet! :) so I am pushed, and I agree, it will be worth it! :D

This sucks, I'm very sorry to hear. But sometimes good comes from whence you least expected it. This may be a chance for you to experience some other aspects of life and grow differently as a person. And hopefully soon when you're ready, you can go back to your hobby with renewed perspective and joy. Life is hard enough, so I always try to look on the positive side of things. A hardship is also a chance to grow and become wiser and tougher, and hopefully happier in the long run :) I wish you all the best. Try to stay positive!

Corkysgirl, I'm so sorry you had to part with your feathered friends, but glad that you kept some too. It's good that they will be together & with someone who knows how to care for them. Maybe you could still get the yellow parakeet for Jo Jo? Birds are great therapy. Wish there was a way to get a canary to you. Will be praying for you.
