Re: Getting the Chestnut Breasted Mannikins Set Up For Breed
Oh they are so gorgeous!
When you're ready to sell babies, let me know! I'll be making a trip to get a pair or two from you!
This species comprised my first flock of finches, so I have a special fondness for them. I had no idea how uncommon they were or I'd have bred them so I could still have a pair now.
I've never seen them since and I'm friends with lots of bird folks!
They're just so, so lovely.
This species looks so clean and crisp to me; the colors are so well delineated in these guys and the sections all have great contrast, even the beak.
Are they difficult to breed?

Re: Getting the Chestnut Breasted Mannikins Set Up For Breed
That is great news cindy
Wish my chestnut breasted were as keen to breed in artificial boxes like your birds.
Apart from their everyday seed diet, mine also eat silverbeet, green seeding grasses, eggfood and heaps of mealworms ( soon to be maggots
)
Keep the updates coming.

cindy -- Jeez Louise! That was fast!
I guess that partially answers my question on whether they're tough to breed!
Hopefully they'll be sitting soon and the baby raising goes just as smoothly!

There will be peeping before you know it! I never saw baby Chestnut Breasted Mannikins! I'll bet they're adorable if they're mini's of the parents. I'll be watching for them.
